We Answer When Your System Goes Down

HVAC systems don't wait for convenient times to fail. Heat pumps stop working on the coldest nights. Air conditioners quit on the hottest afternoons. We've been doing emergency service for over 20 years, and we know what it means to a family when the heat is out.

When you call Baptist Heating & Air, you reach a real person — not a ticket system, not a voicemail. If we're on another call, we'll call you right back.

What to Expect When You Call

  • A real person (or a direct callback — not a ticket system)
  • Honest diagnosis when we arrive
  • Upfront pricing before we start any work
  • Repairs done with quality parts
  • Straight talk about whether repair or replacement makes more sense for your situation

  • Thermostats and controls
  • Ductwork issues
  • Refrigerant leaks and recharging
  • Capacitors, contactors, and electrical components
  • Ignitors, flame sensors, and heat exchangers
  • Condensate drain lines

Cold Weather Tips — While You Wait for Service

If your heat goes out during extreme cold and you're waiting for a technician:

  • Check your air filter first. A clogged filter is the #1 cause of HVAC failure. If it's gray and thick, replace it — it may restore your heat immediately.
  • Check your circuit breaker and furnace power switch.
  • If you have a 90%+ furnace, check that the PVC intake and exhaust pipes outside are clear of ice.
  • Keep garage doors closed and limit opening exterior doors.
  • In extreme cold, boiling water on the stove can help add heat and humidity to the home.
  • Never use a grill, generator, or gas oven to heat your home — serious carbon monoxide risk.

Repair vs. Replacement — Our Honest Answer

We get asked this all the time, and we'll always give you a straight answer. The factors we consider:

  • Age of the system. Furnaces typically last 15–20 years; air conditioners 12–17 years. A system near end of life is a candidate for replacement even on a smaller repair.
  • Cost of repair vs. cost of the system. If the repair exceeds 50% of the system's value, replacement usually makes more financial sense.
  • Repair history. If you're calling us twice a year on the same system, the equipment is telling you something.
  • Efficiency gains. A new high-efficiency system can pay for itself over time in energy savings.

If a repair is the right call for your situation, that's what we'll tell you — even if a replacement would mean more revenue for us.

A cracked heat exchanger can allow carbon monoxide into your air stream. We are trained and certified to inspect heat exchangers properly. We offer free second opinions on heat exchanger diagnoses.
